SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS

Each year The Black Rep provides an 8-week arts intensive for students ages 8-18 in the community. This program is designed to provide exciting opportunities for them to express themselves artistically through theatre, acting, visual arts, dance, movement, playwriting and music. 

SPA 2026

Session 1- Youth Camp

three week camp is geared towards teaching upcoming young artists the basics of storytelling. Students will work with renowned Saint Louis teaching artists in acting, music, and dance, while also experiencing the fun traditional adventures of a summer camp such as the Muny, Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis History Museum, movie theatre trips, and amusement parks. The skills retained during this camp will culminate in a public performance- this year- Sleeping Beauty by Stacey Lane.

Session 2 - Teen Camp

In this three-week residency, students will receive immersive training in acting, music, dance, creative writing, and ensemble work. Through intensive, collaborative, and creative exercises, students will deepen their individuality and artistic voice while learning to work cohesively as a group. This experience aims to develop already talented youth into more versatile, confident, and well-rounded performers. The residency will culminate in a final performance: The Teen Cabaret—featuring solo acts , duets, group numbers, and scenes inspired by iconic Broadway productions and television shows.
